Convert MCC to SCC
MacCaption 608/708 (MCC) to Scenarist Closed Caption (SCC). Convert in the web app, automate with the REST API, or run it offline with the CLI.
Converting MCC to SCC extracts the CEA-608 captions from a MacCaption file’s caption distribution packets and writes them as a standard Scenarist file. This is useful when a platform or encoder accepts only SCC, or when you need to review or edit the 608 track in tools that do not read MCC.
What carries over
- CEA-608 caption data: text, control codes, positioning and styling
- Caption modes: pop-on, roll-up and paint-on
- Timing, converted to 29.97 fps SCC timecode
What changes
- CEA-708 services and 708 window styling are not carried over, because SCC holds 608 only
- An MCC timed at 23.976, 25 or 59.94 fps is re-timed to 29.97 fps SCC timecode
- MCC header metadata, such as the UUID and creation program, is not part of SCC

MCC to SCC questions
Only data SCC cannot store, which is CEA-708 services and 708-specific styling. The 608 captions convert exactly.
The converter calculates each caption’s real-time position and writes it as 29.97 fps timecode, so captions stay aligned with the same moments in the video.
Yes. See SCC to MCC, which is useful when a delivery requires 708 captions or a native frame rate.
